Goal

Addressing findings of robota.ua on blue-collar workers' are hesitant to complete resumes, our goal is to make creating resumes easier and help them find relevant job openings directly. We decided to use AI tools to aid practical job seekers, thereby enhancing the job search experience for both workers and employers.

What have we done?

In order to tackle the problem, we first conducted a thorough analysis of competitors. This was followed by user interviews. Subsequently, we undertook usability testing after forming each hypothesis to ensure the effectiveness of our solutions.

Our User

Name: Mike

Occupation: Versatile Worker

Goal: Actively seeks various job opportunities to advance career prospects and personal development.

Challenge: Faces difficulty on the website in specifying interests and responding to inquiries about responsibilities and personal qualities.

Background: Mike is a proactive individual with a diverse skill set and a keen interest in exploring different job opportunities. However, navigating the website proves challenging for him as he encounters difficulty articulating his interests and answering questions related to his responsibilities and personal qualities. As a result, Mike seeks user-friendly solutions that streamline the process of showcasing his skills and attributes effectively on the platform.

Hypothesis 1

Making resume building easier with AI assistance

Addressing the challenge of incomplete resumes, our work with robota.ua utilizes AI to automatically create professional descriptions from existing data. This approach ensures a faster and more refined resume completion process for users.

  • Problem: Users do not enter a description of work experience and skills.

  • Solution: If AI generates a description based on existing information and provides response options...

  • Results:...the resume will look more professional, and its completion will be simpler and faster.

Usability testing

  • Users described the resume creation process as simple and fast with minimal effort;

  • Users liked the small number of questions, considering them important and relevant;

  • The preview page of the generated resume was liked by users, and the experience and skills generated by AI were deemed satisfactory.

Hypothesis 2

Entering personal information and SMS verification

Previously, when a user wanted to add a second resume on the website, they had to re-enter personal information and go through SMS verification again. In order to simplify this process, we decided to streamline it by allowing users to save their data for multiple resumes without the need for SMS verification.

  • Problem: When publishing the second and subsequent resumes, users are forced to re-fill in the basic information and, accordingly, re-go through SMS verification.

  • Solution: If we ask the user for personal information only once during the registration/account creation stage, and ask for SMS verification only once during registration...

  • Results:

    - The time for filling out a resume will be reduced;
    - The number of resumes on the service will increase;
    - The number of resumes per person/from one account will increase.

Usability testing results

  • For most users, filling in personal information is the easiest;

  • SMS verification is the most serious barrier when creating a resume;

  • It is unclear why the 'Desired Position' is currently located in the 'Personal Information' section;

  • The preview page of the generated resume was liked by users, and the experience and skills generated by AI were deemed satisfactory.

Hypothesis 3

Add the ability to create a portfolio

Previously, users didn't have the ability to add photos of their work and had to use email or other social networks to share their portfolios with employers.

  • Problem: Some blue-collar workers have examples of their work.

  • Solution: If we add the ability to include photos of your work in the resume...

  • Results:

    - Employers will open resumes with a portfolio more frequently than those without it;
    - The NPS (Net Promoter Score) pf the employers will increase regarding resumes with a portfolio.

Usability testing results

  • Users quickly and easily figured out how to add photos of their work;

  • Users told that this will improve the job search process.

Results

After conducting usability testing, it became evident that there has been a significant enhancement in resume quality and completeness, coupled with a notable reduction in the time required for resume preparation. These findings underscore the tangible benefits experienced by workers, illustrating improved efficiency and efficacy in their job search process.
